What are some good ways to deal with allergy induced asthma?

I just found out I have asthma due to my dog allergy. I do have a dog that stays in the house. What are some good ways to prevent another asthma attack? I've been to the ER 2 days ago and they prescribed me Albuterol and Prednisone for the time being, I still have to go to my primary care physician to get it under control but I just need some ways to prevent an asthma attack for the time being.
