How do you get a mildew smell out of leather shoes?

My shoes filled with water and I had to wear them for 14 more hours. When I got home, I was so happy to have them off my feet, I didn't bother to clean them. So now, they smell like mildew. They're very expensive black leather shoes so I know I can't put them in the washer. Does anyone know how to get this stench out of my shoes???
